Ebixcash GTC is a Prepaid MultiCurrency Forex card that is designed to make your foreign trip hassle-free, secure and convenient. You can load this card with multiple foreign currencies in India and use it either to withdraw cash in the local currency from any Mastercard ATM or for purchasing goods and services at merchant outlets that accept Mastercard cards.

The Card features an embedded EMV chip and is protected with a 4-digit security PIN, which is required while withdrawing cash from ATMs and while using at merchant outlets.

For online/e-commerce transactions, the card is enabled with 3 D secure technology that allows debit to card through secured and authorized channels only.

This card is not linked to any of your bank accounts, giving it an extra layer of security. If you lose your card or if it gets stolen, you can immediately block it through our 24X7 customer care or by logging on to the customer portal.

Yes, your Multi-Currency Forex Card can be swiped directly for payments at merchant establishments that accept MasterCard.

Yes, you would be automatically start receiving alerts post card issuance on your registered mobile number.

Your card is valid for a period up to five years. The validity date is mentioned on the card.

Getting Your Ebixcash Globetrotter card

You can login to www.buyforex.com website and apply for the Forex card with a choice to get the card delivered to your doorstep or picking up from nearest branch.

This card is available over the counter at all EbixCash branches. You simply need to walk into the branch, fill in the Forex Card application form, submit the required documentation, fund your card and walk out with the welcome kit pack.

During purchase of a Travel Card, customers need to provide the following:

  • Duly filled Card Application form
  • Copy of Passport, Visa and Ticket
  • Copy of PAN Card
  • Form A2

You might be required to submit additional documentation based on your purpose of travel and as required various guidelines issued by The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

The Multicurrency Forex Card is only for travellers, and cannot be issued to non-travellers.

As per the RBI guidelines, Forex Card can be issued only to Resident Indians

You can purchase foreign exchange up to 60 days in advance from the date of departure.

You can commence the usage of the card once the same is activated. The card activation takes one business day provided all documents including application form are in order and we have received clear funds from you. Once the card is activated, you would be notified through email and SMS on your registered email-id and mobile number respectively.

You can encash the funds available on the card and retain the card with you for future use. The validity of the card is up to 5 years.

If your card has expired before all funds have been utilised, you can contact any of our branches for refund of the un-utilised balance. You can also apply for replacement card to continue to access the remaining funds for payment through the card in future.

To cancel your Multicurrency card, we request you visit our nearest branch and place a request towards cancellation the of the card.

Your request will be processed within one working day of us receiving the request and the available balance on the card will be refunded back to your account.

Using the Card

Your Ebixcash Globetrotter card will be activated and loaded with the Currencies as per your instructions. Once active, the card can be used at any of the International ATMs and merchant locations that accept MasterCard Card. (Usage of the card is not allowed in India, Nepal and Bhutan)

Usage of the Forex Card has to be in strict accordance with the Exchange Control Regulations of the Reserve Bank of India and FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999) regulations.

Due to FEMA regulations, the Forex Card cannot be used at ATMs or merchants in India, Nepal and Bhutan, or for internet purchases where the website is registered in India, Nepal or Bhutan, or at websites accepting payment in Indian Rupees or the currencies of Nepal and Bhutan.

In addition, the Card cannot be used in countries subject to sanctions, including but not restricted to: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria. This list of sanctioned countries is subject to change from time to time.

To cancel your Multicurrency card, we request you visit our nearest branch and place a request towards cancellation the of the card.

Your request will be processed within one working day of us receiving the request and the available balance on the card will be refunded back to your account.

All ATMs overseas displaying the Mastercard symbol will accept your Ebixcash GTC. There are over 2 Million ATMs worldwide that accept Mastercard card

At the time of cash withdrawal across ATMs abroad, the screen may display the following options for the type of account you carry out transactions in:

  • Credit
  • Saving
  • Checking

Please select the b Creditb  option for transaction. If b Creditb  option is not available, select b Checkingb  option.

In general, ATMs will display the amount withdrawn and any fee that ATM service provider may charge in the local currency.

No, ATMs will not provide any option for choice of wallet. Some ATMs, might provide a choice for doing a DCC transaction. However, DCC transactions are blocked on your card. DCC is explained in more detail elsewhere in these FAQs.

Details of your ATM transaction will be available on the ATM slip that is dispensed by the ATM post completion of the transaction.

You can also check details of all your transactions by logging on to the customer web-portal or by calling 24x7 customer care helpline.

You can check the status of your Ebixcash GTC from anywhere in the world. You can login to the state-of-art customer web portal and view all your transactions anytime.

You can get updates on current available balance across multicurrency wallets, transactions undertaken, Transactions after last statement date, Past statements (by period) through this customer portal.

You can reload / top-up your EbixCash Globetrotter Card through the following channels

Kindly note, the maximum amount that can be loaded/reloaded on the card is subject to applicable regulatory guidelines as issued by RBI.

You would receive SMS and email alerts on your registered mobile number and email-id, once your card is loaded/reloaded.

You can also check balance on the card before your departure from India. You can check your balance on customer web-portal using the login id and password provided.

You may call up our customer care centre also to know your balance.

Yes, your Multicurrency card can be reloaded multiple times in future till the card gets expired. You can reload the card with any of the following channels:

  • Visiting our nearest branch
  • Leaving a Signed Copy of the Reload Form and authorization with your family.

Authorization letter along with the personb s name and attested signature who will place the request on his behalf along with the following documents:

  • Passport Copy of the card holder
  • Form A2 signed by the card holder
  • Reload Form signed by the card holder
  • Identity card of the person placing the request.

On submission of these documents and receipt of payment, the Card would be reloaded.

You can choose to load only currencies that you need during your travel. You can load up to six currencies at any point of time from bouquet of available currencies. Pls click here to see currencies that are offered at present.

The Card can be encashed only after your return to India.

For refund of the residual or unutilised balances you can approach any of our branches. You need to complete the refund form and submit a copy of your passport along with the form.

You can retain a zero value or partially loaded card with you. As the card is valid upto 5 years, you can use for your future international trips by simply reloading it.

Refunds have to be claimed within 180 days from your date of arrival (as per RBI regulations). If you do not avail of the refund on time, the card would be suspended and you could face legal action.

Yes, the Card can be used to pay in ANY currency.

In case the card is used to pay in currency that is not available in any of the wallets of the card, the transaction will be debited from the wallet in order of priority and holding sufficient balance for transaction authorization, In such scenarios, currency conversion will be done by the system with applicable mark-up fee.

The card has inbuilt intelligence to process the transaction if any of the currency wallets has sufficient fund to authorize the transaction.

If the currency wallet corresponding to the transaction currency does not have sufficient balance, the payment is processed by debiting the currency wallet in order of priority with sufficient balance. You can set and reset the wallet priority by logging on the card-holder portal. Please note that the transaction will only be authorized if any wallet independently has sufficient balance required for authorizing the transaction.

By default, the card first checks the USD wallet and subsequently other currencies. Please note that if none of currency wallets have sufficient balance then the transaction will be declined even if collectively across the wallets the card has sufficient balance. In the given example, since none of the wallets have 400USD or its equivalent independently, the transaction will be declined.

Please note that cross currency conversion charges will be applicable in cases where the transaction is processed by utilizing funds from different currency wallet.

Yes, you can transfer funds from one wallet in your card to another wallet in your card by logging on customer web portal.

Since the wallets between which the funds would be transferred would be of different currencies, there would Foreign Exchange conversion rate would apply.

Please visit nearest Branch or call 24x7 Customer care center to request for a replacement card. The charges towards reissuance/replacement of Forex card are given in schedule of charges. (link)

When you check into a hotel or rent a car using your Forex Card, the merchant may block a certain amount on your card. This is called pre-authorisation or pre-auth.

We recommend that you DO NOT use your Card at the time of checking-in or initiating a rental(pre-authorisation). If you choose to use your card at the time of check in, the funds on your card will be blocked till such time that the bills is finally settled.

In case, the merchant has taken a pre-auth initially please ensure that at the time of final settlement, the merchant uses the pre-auth taken earlier to settle the bill. Alternatively, he can cancel the pre-auth and take a fresh authorisation for the actual bill amount. If this is not done, pre-authorised funds may not be available to you immediately.

No, there are no transaction fees for using your card at merchant establishments.

There is a transaction fee levied at various ATMs for cash withdrawal and balance inquiry. Please click here < link to schedule of charges> to get the complete Fee details.

Some ATM service providers might charge you additionally for ATM transactions on their ATMs. Such charge is normally displayed during the transaction and you will have the option to either proceed with the transaction or cancel it.

You may get charged for SMS alerts. Please refer to the detailed schedule of charges. (link to schedule of charges)

For transactions done in any currency which is loaded on your multicurrency forex card, no conversion exchange rate is applicable (provided that there is sufficient balance in that currency wallet) For transactions, where either the transaction currency is not loaded on your card or if that currency wallet does not have sufficient balance to complete the transaction, the transaction will be debited from the currency wallet basis the wallet priority holding sufficient balance. In such scenario, exchange rate conversion would be applied between the transaction currency and the debited wallet currency. The Foreign exchange rate that would be applicable would be basis the MasterCardb s wholesale exchange rate with applicable mark-up charges.

Please note, a transaction will only get approved if sufficient balance is available in at least one of the currency wallets. Sufficient balance will include transaction amount (post foreign exchange conversion including markup), any applicable transaction fees and the required minimum card balance.

Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) is an optional service that is sometimes offered by merchants and ATM operators abroad, giving cardholders the choice of paying in either the currency of the country they are visiting or their own domestic currency, i.e. Indian Rupees.

As your cards is loaded with currencies other than Indian Rupee, a DCC transaction would result in multiple conversion rates which would be unfavourable to you in all times.

Given that this is an optional service and that doing a non-DCC transaction is economically better for you, we have blocked DCC transactions on your card. In case, a merchant attempts a DCC transaction, it will get declined.

Always ask a merchant to bill the transaction in the local currency only.

Card Security and Insurance

Local ATMs/merchant locations might have their own transactional limits and these cannot be changed by us. In such scenarios, the lower of the maximum transaction limit of ATM/merchant provider and EbixCash will be applicable.

Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a unique 4-digit secure number assigned to your card.

Please do ensure that, on receipt of the card, you memorize the PIN and destroy the PIN mailer.

You can also change the PIN to a four-digit number of your choice by logging on to customer web-portal

If you have forgotten your PIN, you may write to us or call the 24- hour helpline for generation of a new PIN. You can also self-reset your PIN by logging on to the customer web-portal and answering a few validation questions.

If you have forgotten your customer web-portal, you can generate a new password using the b Forgot Passwordb  link on the web-portal.

Yes, you may need to enter the PIN at the merchant outlet for completing the transaction.

Please do not share your PIN with the merchant or anyone even if requested.

For your protection and for preventing misuse of card, the system caps the total amount that can used at merchants per day. Click here to check the limits on your card

Yes, you can temporarily block and un-block your card anytime by logging on to your cardholder web-portal. You can also call 24hrs customer care helpline.

You need to immediately inform the EbixCash by calling the Customer Contact Centre or by visiting any EbixCash branch and get your Forex Card hot listed.

In case of any fraudulent transactions that may have taken place on the Forex Card, you will need to lodge a claim by submitting the documents as and when required by the EbixCash. You can call Customer Contact Centre for further assistance.

A complimentary insurance cover is built-in in your card to further safe guard you from any fraudulent usage.

Claim should be reported by card holder to Ebixcash within 3 days from the date of receipt of statement/knowing on fraud transaction where in the alleged lost card transaction/online/fraud transaction/counterfeit is happened.

You are automatically enrolled into the policy on the purchase of the card. The claim will be applicable only if on the incident date, the travel card is active and had a positive balance on the card.

For insurance claims, please contact our toll-free number or write us at _____________________.

You will need to provide details for claim along with supporting documents. All details provided by you will be sent to the Insurance company for claim validation and processing. All decisions related to the claim will be taken by the Insurance company and their decision will be binding on the claimant.

If the card gets stolen, immediately call up customer care number and report your card lost. The card will be immediately blocked to prevent it misuse.

On your request, a replacement card will be sent. Please refer to the schedule of charges for applicable fees.

If your card is issued under the dual card program, you can activate your back-up card to utilize the funds in your card.

You will not be liable for transactions on your Card Account (if any) from the moment card loss is registered with us.

No. You will receive a new PIN along with the replacement card. You will need to use that for transacting at ATMs and merchant outlets.

Contactless Transactions

Your Ebixcash GTC is a Contactless Multi-Currency Forex Card. It is designed to be a fast and convenient way to pay for every day purchases and services while travelling abroad. It has a secure, contactless chip technology that is designed to enable you to make payments with just a tap of the card.

The Contactless technology works when the card is waved at a maximum range of 4 cms. (this needs to be verified) Hence, even if the customer is at a small distance from the terminal, no accidental transaction can take place, The merchant also needs to initiate the transaction on the terminal and enter the amount on the POS machine before the card is tapped/ waved and the payment is processed.

No. Even the card is tapped/ waved more than once at the terminal, the customer will only get billed once for the purchase unless the merchant initiates a second transaction.

Most of the countries allow small value contactless transactions to be done without entering PIN. Values above which PIN is required varies from country-to-country

Ask the merchant to ensure that he has swiped on a Credit Card terminal. Machine should accept MasterCard cards.

If the card is still getting declined, walk into the nearest ATM to check the available balance on the card. Customers can withdraw the cash from the ATM and settle with the merchant.
